RP 10Question: Hello! You recently released a new album "Evasive". On it, we heard the sound of lightweight Neurotech. This is more of a single experiment or this a new style of Neurotech?
Neurotech: Hey Maxim! Every album is an experiment, not one album has defined what Neurotech's style is, it's all a part of a bigger puzzle. I enjoyed the process & I like the album very much, but I have no need to make a new one in this style right away. I spend so much time on an album until I am totally fed up by it and I need to move on to something new. That's the only pattern that has been repeating my whole career.
RP 10Question: You have a tradition of releasing great long tracks that have the name "Symphony". Do you expect the audience a new symphony?
Neurotech: It's already recorded and I am mixing it at the moment. Therefore, yes.
RP 10Question: Note that you have a few collaborations with other musicians, as well as remixes. Do you expect the listeners in their future?
Neurotech: No collaborations / remixes are planned at the moment.
RP 10Question: Do you have any side projects or the desire to realize themselves in other genres? (not industrial metal and ambient, for example techno or black metal)
Neurotech: I'll see. I like to keep Neurotech without any boundaries so I don't really have a need to have a side-project which would probably sound like Neurotech anyway.
RP 10Question: How did start your musical career? Who for you was the original example, or someone you equal?
Neurotech: I didn't really have an example, just an idea to create music by myself. Fortunately enough, computers provide the tools to do so.
RP 10Question: What tools use to write music? (DAW, VST, analog synths, midi-controllers)
Neurotech: I use Cubase 8, Axiom 61 controller, Cort EVL Z47 guitar with Line 6 - POD X3 and a couple of VST's. A fairly modest setup.
RP 10Question: How much you spent time writing one track?
Neurotech: About the same. I am quite a traditional songwriter, I write on piano & couple of synths to get the harmonies and melodies into a finished song. Those sketches are usually written in a day or so, but then I spend months upon months adding and refining elements until the song is done.
RP 10Question: What is your favorite track from done to you and why?
Neurotech: Usually the one I am working on. Because it's still fresh and exciting and there are still possibilities for improvement. Otherwise, I like them all equally for different reasons.
RP 10Question: What are your favorite movies, TV shows, books, music albums? What could be noted from the released lately?
Neurotech: Movies: There are absolutely too many to mention. Mainly made by guys like Christopher Nolan, David Fincher, Ridley Scott, Martin Scorsese, Woody Allen & many others.
TV shows: Breaking Bad, The Office (USA), South park, Mad Men. Also George Carlin's TV specials & lots of Louis C.K.
Books: The Icarus Deception by Seth Godin
Music albums: There are too many favourites. From the late 60's, early 70's progressive rock bands like The Doors & Uriah Heep, to late 70's and early 80's electronic music pioneers like Vangelis and Jean-Michelle Jarre, to 80's synth pop acts like Pet Shop Boys and Depeche Mode, to 90's metal stuff like Emperor and Dimmu Borgir and from 00's onwards electronic stuff like Juno Reactor, BT, Jon Hopkins and many others. Not to mention all the great soundtracks by Hans Zimmer, so yeah, I have a wide taste hehe.
RP 10Question: What channels can recommend on Youtube?
Neurotech: I don't really watch that many tutorial videos to be able to recommend someone. For beginners I would say, watch everything from everyone but experiment and practice so
you can find your own voice & sound. The bottom line is to have your unique stamp on it, make music that you want to hear and if it resonates with an audience - so much better.
Thanks for the interview & all the best to Neurotech's community in Russia!
RP 10Question: Какие каналы можешь посоветовать на Youtube?
